Default tach and idle problem

[align=left]I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy it has 125k miles on it and I have a weird problem. When you are driving the motor and tach will flucuate. It does not do this all the time it mainly does this with the A/C running and when going up a hill or getting on the highway. I have put a fuel pump and fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator just recently. It has new plugs wires and coil. I figured it might be something in the fuel, but the thing that gets me is the check gauges light will come on for a few seconds then go off, I have only noticed this light once maybe twice. Someone told me that the alternator could be having issues causing a misfire. I work 12 volt on cars for a living so I will check that as soon as I get the vehicle home. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate the help thanks Scott.
