Condition
Some customers may comment about one or more of the following conditions:•
No audio after ignition cycle.•
Radio presets change and audio is lost after 2-3 seconds. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number05-08-44-019. •
Radio always returns to FM1 after CD is ejected instead of previous selected band.•
CD will not play above a certain track number.•
CD changer reads "CD Full" when it is not.•
CD eject button sticks. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number04-08-44-022.Some of these conditions may be intermittent and reset after the ignition is cycled.
Cause
These conditions may be caused by a software anomaly in the radio.
Correction
Important:The new radio must be set up for the option configuration of the vehicle. If the radio setup is not performed, the digital radio receiver, vehicle communication interface module (VCIM), disc player and video display, and the steering wheel controls may not work properly. The radio may display a calibrate message on the display.
Replace the radio with an exchange unit. Refer to the Radio Replacement procedure in the Entertainment sub-section of Service Information (SI Document ID #1527234 - Montana SV6, Relay, Terraza, Uplander or SI Document ID #1459675 - Corvette).

Condition
Some customers may comment that at times there is no audio out of any speakers. However, on the next key cycle the audio system may perform properly.
Cause
An anomaly within the amplifier/radio operating systems may cause this condition.
Correction
Important:Pay particular attention to this correction procedure, it is somewhat complicated. The repair varies based on the vehicle sound system. Refer to the Service Parts Identification (SPID) Label of the vehicle being repaired. The type of sound system in the vehicle will determine the repair procedure.
[ol]Determine the regular production option (RPO) code of the sound system in the vehicle from the SPID label.
Install the Tech2® to the vehicle DLC and determine the part number of the radio software and the amplifier part number.
Refer to the tables below to determine the correct repair(s). [/ol]

Notice:BEFORE DISCONNECTING ANY AUDIO SYSTEM COMPONENT IN A VEHICLE WITH THE BOSE® AUDIO SYSTEM, THE 30AMP AMPLIFIER FUSE MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS JUNCTION BLOCK. Failure to remove the 30AMP fuse from the UBEC can result in a damaged Bose® amplifier.
Important:DETERMINE THE SOFTWARE NUMBER OF THE RADIO AND THE AMPLIFIER. THE RADIO MAY NEED REPROGRAMMING, OR THE AMPLIFIER MAY NEED REPLACEMENT ONLY. NOT ALL VEHICLES WILL NEED BOTH A RADIO REPROGRAMMING AND AMPLIFIER REPLACEMENT.

#05-08-44-019: Radio Presets Change and Audio is Lost (Set Radio Alternate Frequency (AF) to OFF) - (Jun 23, 2005)

Radio Presets Change and Audio is Lost (Set Radio Alternate Frequency (AF) to OFF)Models:
2005 Buick Terraza2005 Chevrolet Corvette, Uplander2005 Pontiac Montana SV62005 Saturn Relaywith CD Player MP3 Radio (RPO US8) or CD Changer MP3 Radio (RPO US9)
Condition
Some customers may comment that when they recall a preset FM Radio Data System (RDS) station, the audio is lost and the station fades out for approximately 45 to 60 seconds and then returns.
Cause
Radios are manufactured with the Alternate Frequency (AF) default setting to "AF ON". When the AF function is on, and the radio station becomes weak, it will attempt to seek to another stronger station that carries the same program. This functionality has limited use in the domestic market, where individual competing radio stations do not carry the same program - unlike in export markets, where there are chains of stations all carrying the same program.
Correction
Change the radio alternate frequency to off. Review the vehicle's Owner's Manual with the customer, especially how to turn on and off the AF function. Press and hold the BAND button for two seconds. After two seconds, a beep will be heard and the radio screen will display the current AF setting (AF ON or AF OFF). If the AF setting is on, press and hold the BAND button again for two seconds. AF OFF will appear on the display.
