Unhappy Temp gauge and oil pressure issue

I have two questions for my 5.7 L (350) engine (92 Silverado)<O</O
<O</O

1. My engine temperature gauge is not working. I troubleshooted the power to the coolant temperature sensor and it is where it should be-5V. I replaced the sensor. Still no good. Can a bad coolant temperature switch be the problem? <O</O
<O></O>
2. I have an issue with low oil pressure. The oil pressure gauge was working very erratically for a long time. I finally got around to replacing the oil pressure sensor. Now the truth comes out. When the engine is cold it stays at about 40 psi. When the engine gets warm, the pressure drops. When I am running at speed it stays around 30 psi. At an idle it drops to about 5 psi and the "check gauges” lights come on. My guesses are either that I have a bad oil pump or worn bearings. It is not smoking or knocking. I am running 5W 30. I am going to switch to 10W-30. <O></O>

Need help quick! Thanks in advance for the assistance.<O></O>

not sure about your temp sensor but switching to 10w30 oil should help the oil pressure i ran 5w30 in the summer here in tx and ended up losing a motor due to low oil pressure and excess heat when the motor blew it was full of oil but the 5w30 had gotten so thin you had to pull the dipstick fast to catch it on there

Thanks. I switched over today to 10W 30. I noticed the 5W-30 was very thin when I changed it and it only had 3200 miles on it. I threw in one can on STP to help thicken it up.
