thermo gauge
my thermostat gauge doesn't work. could that mean it could just be the thermostat?could a bad thermostat make the gauge not work? What would cause the thermostat gauge not to work?

No if the thermostat was bad it would stick causing no flow which would make the car get really hot or stuck open which would cause a constant flow which would still not affect the temp gauge
