Default thermostat Question

I was reading another on another forum, the 8.1L engine has a problem with oil consumption, bout a quart every 1,000-1500 miles. Some people claim the fix to this is a 180 T-Stat, and synthetic oil. My 6.0 "consumes" a quart every 2,000miles. I let my oil go to 5,000, then I change it. That's my little compromise with the OLM. Anywho, what are ya'lls thoughts? I figure spending 10 bucks on a 180 T-Stat to save 2 quarts of synthetic oil between changes is well worth it.

the logic is there. personally, i'm not familiar with this particular issue, but it seems if changing t-stat, goin synthetic solves it, then it's worth it.

I researched it a bit, apparently the fuel mileage might suffer. I jsut broke 14mpg for the first time, with 3 different codes being thrown. I don't want to lose my mileage.

It still pulls bout the same rpms as a 4-speed, just shifts more. I seriously think I'll get 15 on a regular basis once I take care of a few things and get my foot out of it with the new tune. Plus the bigger tires cause less RPMs at the same speed.

very true. but man, it's hard to keep the foot out of it. especially with new toys added.
