Torque converter?
Working on a project with my step son, having issues with the transmission. We have a 327 with a powerglide tranny that we put in his 1990 (I think) S-10 pick-up. We went over the motor and it starts and runs good. Our problem is that we have no power to the wheels. The tranny supposedly worked well when it was pulled from the old hot rod it was in. I took the torque converter in to be refurbished, so I know that is good. I took the cooling lines off and we do not have anything flowing through them. Someone suggested that the converter may not be engaged all the way, is that possible? It bolted up fine to the motor and flywheel. Any other thoughts?
Welcome to the forum... I don't have enough expertise to answer that question but hopefully someone will be able to answer your question soon... post some pictures of this project we'd love to see it!
If the convertor isn't fully seated into the pump, the fluid pump will be damaged when the trans is bolted up to the engine. Sounds like that's what happened. Some manufacturers provide a measurement so you can check that its fully seated before bolting it up.
did you use the bell housing bolts to pull the trans into the engine or mate it up flush first and then put the bolts in?
