Trans Lines
Ok so, I'm wondering if anyone has used hydraulic hose to hook up a transmission instead of aluminum tubing. Hydraulic hose is made for oil, it can take 3000+ psi, and its WAY eaiser than bending up a bunch of aluminum tubing and trying to get it all to look good.
The hose can hidden inside the frame up to the radiator. I'm wondring if anyone has done this before and has seen problems with it?

I have used rubber transmission cooler hose many times. Hydraulic hose is probably even better. I am not sure if a hose clamp could squeeze it hard enough to stay together though.

Yea I'm gonna go for it, I think I'll even use some plastic electrical loom to protect the line from drit and water and hopefully extend the life of the hose. hopefully the local auto parts store sells hydraulic hose by the foot.
My advice would be to use gasket tack on the outside of the flared fitting under the hose clamp, and use two hose clamps per fitting. I used an 8 " piece of fuel line for the same purpose on my van once.
The hose held fine for a couple weeks, and everything was going just dandy until the fitting and the hose came apart while I was at the front of the line, in traffic, at rush hour, in the busiest intersection in town.
Things proceeded to get ugly as I was broken down, traffic was piling up, the police arrived, and I had this massive red transmission oil puddle spreading out from the bottom of my truck...

Well, it was working fine for me, for a couple weeks, until the whole thing went "splody" at that intersection.
But you're right, MDTAHOE, I have no idea how well it would have worked over an extended period of time. It was an emergency running repair I performed after work one day to get home, when I found a worn through transmission line. I had fully intended to deal with it when I got home, but other things were clamoring for my attention.
