I'm not so sure about there being less clutch packs. if he's talking standard tranny like this whole thread has been about its either an nv or a borg warner series 5 speed, or in some cases the ol sm465 4 spd. but they all use the same clutch.. and i've rebuilt hundred's of 4l60's and they all have been the same, whether 4.3 or 7.4l. the only problem is if your truck DIDN'T have the 700r4 in before you lack the vacuum switch and wiring for the torque converter lock up, which without it you'll eat the tranny alive fast. if you have it and you do the swap, check to make sure the vacuum switch is functioning properly

and im just checking to make sure that you cant use a tranny from a 4x4 if your truck is 2wd is that right

thats right, you can't, unless swap the tailshafts over from a 4x4 adapter to a 2wd tailshaft and housing. its a bigger pain than its worth usually you can just find a 2wd transmission or 4x4 transmission
