Default trouble starting k-10 with 454

I have a new starter, new positive and negative cables....sometimes it starts and other times it doesnt.....when i turn key the one light i have working on my dash comes on so i know it gets power but i dont hear starter try to kick in most of the time. Im wondering if it is the ignition switch on steering column or the wiring from column to positive side of starter.....any body else have an idea?

double check and see if the wires are tight on the starter, and then have someone help you do this, but take a voltmeter and checkthe wires going from battery, check wires going to starter, and if they are getting power, then its most likely time to check the ignition switch

another thing you can do it rig up a quick toggle switch for the starter, i have one in my ud truck, and if it works every time then its the ignition switch
