Default RE: variable speed sensor

The easiest way to checkthe vehicle speed sensor is to connect a DVOM and set it to the AC voltage scale, connect either lead to both wires from the vss and drive it. The faster you go, the more voltage is produced.
If you have year make and model I may be able to get more specific

I'm not 100% sure haven't checked a VSS but wouldn't an oscilliscope (sp) be easier to check something like that?
