Want to install 285 tires...
I want to increase to a 285/75/16 tire and currently have 265/75/16 with out doing a lift. Tire tech says it won't work on my truck.
I have 1 1/2 inch clearance between tire and fender @ it closest point. Will it work or not? Has anyone tried it yet on a similar truck?
In my garage ...I have several pix, but have not figured out how to upload pix to this post yet.

if so just crank on the torsion bar bolt until you level your truck and stick them on. there is a ton of adjustment on those trucks my 92 i had gave me almost 3 more inches for free just by turning up the torsion bars
I don't know if I am comfortable in doing that. The truck is not a 4 x 4 but looks like one as it sits high already. Knowing that it can be raised higher w/o modifications...I increased the tire size.
My calculations leads me to believe that going from 265 to 285 in tire size would increase the tire tread by one inch...which leaves 1/2 inch clearance.
Am I right or is my inclinations out of balance?
