Default What is this part?

So i posted this in the venture forum but figured it might get more attention here.

This thing melted and I need to order another one...problem is I dont know what it is lol. Can anyone help me?

Coolant themorstat. very inexpensive item. don't drive without it.

The gooey stuff is wax and when it melts it opens a valve. Kinda cool how it works.

I dont think it's the thermostat. It's got a vacuum line running to it. Pretty sure it has something to do with the exhaust.

vacuum line and diaphram spring from an old egr valve would be my guess
