Alright I have gotten almost all of the wires attached to the factory stereo adaptor. I have an 89 K1500 and I have one question. The wire labled "ILL" on the plug for the back of the stereo is that wire going to be connected to the adaptor "Illumination Dash/Light" or the wire labled "Dimmer" this stereo only has an orange/white plug.

ILL wire is Orange/White

Illumination Dash/Light- Orange Solid

Dimmer- Orange/White

I assume it goes to the Orange/White, but I just want to confirm.

edit: Also does anyone know if they make a dash USB mount. This stereo has a USB, but I am looking for something that looks clean. Maybe drill a hole and screw something into the back of the USB adaptor.

 

You are right...orange\white goes to orange\white

check out this cable....it is designed to work in home\office situations.....but you could easily fabricate something to make it work in your vehicle
