Which would you do?
I'm a noobie here, so thanks for helping me out with my first issue. Long story short, I've got a 2000 Z71 with 218k miles, 5.3L,which needs some pretty extensive engine work. It runs fair, but has an oil leak at the rear of the right head as well as a coolant leak.
Since I can't find anyone who will rebuild in my area, I have the choice between a crate motor swap, or a used 5.3 found at a local salvage yard wth only 29K miles, which they say was compression tested before shelving, and in running condition.
Before I go any further, finances being an issue right now, would you even consider the salvage engine...as they would give me a 1 yr. warranty..the same a crate motor for nearly $3k less? Or should I just suck it up?
Thanks for your input.

For $3k, I would go for the salvaged motor. At 29K on the motor, it should be nicely broken in. And they are offering a 1 yr warranty so if anything is wrong with it, it should show up within that year
