I was given a short block out of an 86 C10 and was told it was the original engine. I saw the truck and it fired up with almost no cranking "faster than my 04 dodge dak.... i know im sorry it was cheap" and with no Chevy salute so i took it. Out of force of habit I looked up the engine code V0213UFC so this tells me its a flint block made on feb 13 and its a 350 from 1980.... so i looked at the casting number and ran into something new. instead of a normal code it had GM5.0LC so it is a 305? im lost. there is no UPC or OFC code, i don't know any other way i could have miss read this.

 

Not to mention that what you're told and reality are two different things, especially in the wild world of car parts. People giving it to you may have been misinformed, or plain uninformed, no offense.

 

the casting number you are looking for should be 7 numbers all number and as Gary said it is on the drivers side just above the bell house
an example of a casting number is 3970014
