Default 2009 HHR Key fob programming

Does anyone know how (or if it's possible) to program the RKE Remote Fob for a 2009 HHR LS? The dealer wants $50 just for programming.

I ordered my new key blank & fob online. Took it to the dealer and paid them a small fee to cut the key. When I walked into the service area with my reciept, they assumed I bought the fob there and programmed my fob for free.

You need a tool that can program the RCDLR to recognize the key fobs. $50 isn't too bad but you may want to call automotive locksmiths also.

Well, you must realize it wasn't really "free."

I had a locksmith program my fobs, the charge was $24.50 to remove the old fobs and program the new ones into the system

If you have an owners manual, it will be in there. At least it was on my Equinox. It takes all of twenty seconds.
