Default ABS rear wiring harness questions

I have a 2009 HHR. Recently my "Service Traction" and "Service ABS" messages came on. as well as my brake light, as in the light that comes on if your emergency brake is on. I saw bits of wiring and harness wrap laying on the garage floor so I climbed under the car. I found that my 2 new puppies had chewed the rear ABS harness into several pieces. It looks simple to replace...just 3 plugs, and I unplugged a shorter section to make sure I could access the plugs. The local auto parts store and the Chevrolet dealer want the same price for the new rear harness..$263. However, the dealer wants 2 hours labor to do the install. I asked them "isn't this just a plug in harness?" They said yes but they also need to do reprogramming. I'm pretty sure that I can install and plug in the harness myself but my question is: Is this reprogramming a real thing that needs to be done?....or a sort of scam to justify 2 hours of labor. I have respect for the professionals who know their jobs but I'm also fairly self reliant and don't like to take chances. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!!!

as long as it is just a harness and not a module...programming is not required.
