reduced engine power

went to start 06 chevy hhr and battery was dead, jumped it and reduced engine power was flashing took it for a ride and no power, what is going on?

I've heard of that happenign to the trucks when you jump the battery. Unhook the battery for awhile, and hook it back up and try it.
