Default 02 impala - no speaker sound or door chime

I have a 2002 impala with over 162k miles. Recently the wipers have become stuck in the up position, the radio speakers no longer work and there is no door chime.

I have read that for the wipers, it could be the home position tab near the wiper motor. How do the wipers come off in order to be able to check that tab. I removed the nut on the wiper arm, but still could not remove the wipers. Hate to have to go to the garage just for a bent tab.

For the radio speaker sound and door chime, I've read that it might be the trunk mounted amp. Any other suggestions or does that sound familiar to anyone here?

Thanks in advance!!

If you have an amp, it will be in the trunk between the rear speakers. Try removing the connectors for a minute, then hooking them back up.
Also might trypulling the radio out, and test the speaker leads for a grounded wire, This condition will shut-down the outputs from the radio to prevent damage

Hi, I'm new to this one, but have an 00 with 88K, and do most of my own work. I had to remove the cowl to check my wiper motor and linkage for damage after my wife reamed one of the wiper arms out by not removing enough ice. So, I had to remove the good one and it wasn't easy, but if you remember that there's a lot of spring tension trying to hold the blade against the windshield, and work the base of the arm by rocking it, it comes off. Problem is, once you get the cowl off, you basically have to disassemble the motor-linkage assembly inside the cowl to remove any of it from the car. Hopefully you can find the problem without having to do that, and I believe you need a special tool for it. The chime is fed by the radio throughone of the front speakers(driver's door, I think). You might just have a wire terminal off at the speaker, pinched the wire(s) somewhere around the speaker, or a bad speaker. Particularly with that many miles on the car.If you don't have any luck with them, I have a set of factory manuals which are of some help at times. Let me know if you need further help.

So I am in no way a car guy. I am however an avid reader of online advice forums. I had the same problem in my 2002 impala LS and followed these instructions (which I have dumbed down to my level) to fix my radio not sending sound to the speakers and my chime not working

1. Remove the "scuff plates" from the front and rear passenger seats (the plastic that runs along the base of the door just inside the car)
2. Remove the plastic casing over the front passenger seat belt (tilting the seat back allowed it to come up and out easier)
{when I did this I discovered that the underside of my mats were soaked in water}
3. Follow the wire bundle that's under the carpet edge towards the trunk
4. Remove the plastic clips holding the wire bundle to the side of the car
5. Remove the plastic covering and the tape around the wires
6. Find the LARGER orange wires (there are three wires leading from the back, two from the front.)
7. Two of the orange wires leading from the back are soldered to the LARGER orange wire coming from the front, approximately 7-8 inches back from the seat belt, it is this splice that had gone bad.
8. Using wire cutters clip and strip the wires exposing clean wire
9. Using a six inch piece of 18 gauge wire re-solder the two wires leading from the back with one of the ends of the new wire (I put a wire nut on just because I had it also I wasn't really happy with my solder joints)
10. Solder the other end of the six inch wire to the larger orange wire leading from the front
11. Tape the solder joints and test the radio

Post 06 Impala LT chime and radio issues

I have an 06 Impala LT and there have been a couple issues I have had regarding the front door speakers and the chime. I have had times when the front door speakers would work perfectly and then times when one or both of the front door speaker wouldn't work causing the chime to not be as loud and the radio not sounding as good as it should. The speakers on the posts in the front work just fine and so do the rear speakers. If someone could please give me some advice to what it could possibly be and how to fix it. Any advice would help alot. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm having the same trouble with my 08 impala lt! First my front speakers would go in and out but as of now they quit working. When I plug into my auxiliary in the front to play music from my phone, my drivers side pillar and rear are not working as of today! Very frustrating!

I just purchased a 2002 Chevy impala from someone, the radio screen worked but No sound would come out. I paid someone to hook the wire back up, (which was under my Hood on the right side), and the sound started working but the door chime won't stop beeping, it beeps the entire time I'm driving. But I noticed in the message center it says low oil pressure, and every now and then it disappears and the beeping stops for about ten seconds and the low oil pressure pops back up and the beeping starts again, the oil pressure has been fixed and tried resetting it but didn't work. Can someone please help me, the beeping is driving me insane.

That's probably why he unplugged it.

The low oil pressure can be from worn bearings.

Gm uses cheap $2 speakers that are notorious for failing. Have replaced all four in my vehicle. Find efficient replacements as the stock radio doesnt put out much power.unless you have like the Bose system their is no amp.
