02 impala no start fuel regulator question
Bought this car the other day and it ran great, the next day no start or any day since then. did a little troubleshooting. It has spark, it has compression, if i give it a shot of starting fluid fires up and runs perfectly. now to the regulator, when i unhook the fuel line side of the regulator and turn the key on it blows fuel out, hook that back up and unhook regulator from fuel rail no fuel coming out of the regulator but fuel is pouring from the fuel rail... i must be confused on how this system works on these cars... i would think fuel would pass through the regulator, but it doesnt, can someone point me in the right direction?
now that im thinking about it, maybe when i unhooked the fuel line from the bottom of the regulator, maybe this is a return system and its actually feeding the rails from another line somewhere and the regulator regulates pressure back to the tank.... then that begs the question is something keeping the injectors from firing? usually when i go out there first thing in the morning, the car will start for a couple seconds and die then just crank... Id really appreciate any help guys!
