03 impala Blower motor
My blower motor on my ac/heat system works fine untill the switch is set to 5 which is max then the blower just quits. I'm thinking the blower motor itself may be going bad or the switch.
Any other ideas?
How hard is it to change the fan motor?

I'm no expert, but from what I've read on here before it could be the blower motor resistor. Ironically, I'm going to try to replace one today on my 02 Impala today. I've tried to do it before, but couldn't get the old one out. There's one screw that's right up against the firewall padding that's real hard to get to with the socket. Good luck.

Just got done replacing the blower motor resistor. It was hell to do, but the blower works fine now. Cost me $30 for the part. I'm guessing that I saved a bundle compared to what a dealer would've charged.

There is a plastic door under the glovebox on the passenger side called IP Insulator. The door is held in by two clips (A) and a push in retainer (B).
You will need to remove the push-in retainer. There is a special tool for this, it looks like a fork with only two, wide tines. An automotive store like NAPA, CarQuest, etc should carry it. It's used to remove door panels, etc. After you remove the retainer, push the clip in the direction indicated. Rotate the courtesy lamp counterclockwise to remove it from the insulator. Then remove the insulator from the car.
Release the instrument panel harness retainer and position the harness aside. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
Disconnect the blower motor cooling hose, remove the motor mounting screws, then you can remove the motor.
