Default 06 Impala - tire eater?

I have an 06 Impala, and I just had to replace the 2 front tires at 35k miles. I rotated them and still the front tires wore away (the outer edges). I rotated my tires, so I will need to replace the other 2 GY with Generals. I had the alignment checked and it was OK.

I replaced the GY Integrity (nice name, huh) to General Altimax. The were recommended by many people and had good ratings on tirerack.com

I have noticed a lot of 06 Impalas on the road with new tires on the fronts, something other than GY.

Anyone else had to replace the GY tires?

My 06 did the same thing. The air pressure recommendations on the door sill, in my opinion, are bogus. They probably work for 15" tires but running 26lbs of pressure allows the tire to cup and wears the outside edges. The 16" tires max pressure is 40lbs+. I run 36 psi in mine and they wear just fine. Anyone else had this problem or an opinion?

My opinion is that the tires that come on the GM vehicles are the issue. On the 04 we had the first set of tires replaced at 45,000 then put some Michelins on and drove it til 110,000 when we sold it

I recently rotated the tires on our 07 Impala.
30,000 miles- This is what the Factory tires look like. All 4 look like this. plenty of tread left.
Though one has a little more wear on the tire- outer edge.. but not much

If you're wearing the outside edges on the front tires, you are probably not rotating them often enough, not running enough pressure in them and/or taking curves really fast. All of the tires should wear out at about the same time.

You need to have the alignment checked by someone who understand alignment theory. I am not talking about someone who can run the alignment machine but someone who understands. Sometimes factory specs do not work. If you are running low tire pressure both inside and outside edges would be worn pretty equally. If you are running to much pressure the center will be worn out. If the tread pattern is scrubbed on a angle you may have a toe problem. If one edge inner or outer is worn could be a camber problem. Someone who really does not understand alignments may tell you the front of that car does not have a camber adjustment however a knowledgeable person could ob-long on of the strut bolt holes to allow for adjustment
