My thoughts on 08 Impala
I had the opportunity to drive an 08 impala LT with 9000 miles on it across the state on Sunday and I have to say I was more than impressed.
It is undoubtedly the most solid GM vehicle I have seen in the last ten years. Everything felt tight and snug and nothing out of place or rattling. The 3.5V6 performed flawlessly and I think I even felt a bit of aggression underneath the hood. the area I was most impressed in thought was the steering. It was extremely tight for a low budget car. I can see that car getting at least 150,000 miles out of it easily.
Oh and the best part, I averaged almost 33mpg running about 68mph on the interstate. Now that is impressive for a car big enough to stow 5 sets of golf clubs in the trunk along with 2 computers and a vanity mirror in the backseat

I didn't have a problem with the accelerator, it felt just like the 92. I can understand what you're talking about because my dads Acura TL Type-S has that new throttle position system that I cannot remember the name of and you almost don't know when you are pushing on the petal. But i'll take it because that is a FUN CAR
I bought a 08 LT last November. It was a rental with 35,000 miles on it. It now has a little over 40,000 miles on it and it has done great with about the fuel mileage you got. My normal driving gets me around 25 MPG. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of sound insulation (I did come out of a Town Car). Water splashing on the floor boards is very loud. It doesn't have a lot of road noise except for the splashing. My escape has a lot more road noise but not the splashing sound.
It doesn't use a drop of oil and the electronic readouts are great.

I currently own a 2004 Malibu Maxx with the gertified warranty, and when I take the car in to get little things fixed I get an Impala for a loaner car. My Dad owns a 2004 Impala & I like that car lots but the '09 model is even better than his 2004. Smooth ride, loads of power & a great sound system to boot. The heated seats seemed to get much hotter than my Malibus. I had to actually turn it off. I can see why so many people like the Impalas whenever I get behind the wheel of one, even my Dad's 2004.
I've had 14 new cars and 60 or 70 used cars over the last 45 years and this car has less insulation on the floor than any I have had in the modern era (90s+). It reminds me of the VW Thing in regards to insulation. My first new car was a 73 Impala that averaged 10 MPG and didn't have much power and my second was a 76 LTD. I've had everything from an Opel Kadette to a Lincoln Town Car and this Impala gets the 2nd best fuel mileage of any of them. The only car I have had that was more economical was a 1980 Honda Civic CVCC. My 08 Impala gets better than my 67 Opel Kadette, 93 Subaru Loyale, 7 Corvairs, 3 Metropolitans, 59 Simca, 68 Sunbeam Arrow, 2 K cars, Rambler 62 American, 71 Toyota Corona, 61 VW bug and a bunch of larger cars.
