to suggest any manufacturer needs a written document to revoke a warranty claim is nonsense.
In the process of diagnosing a complaint you pull a valve cover and the engine is full of sludge. Your paper work better be complete. To save $15 on a oil change vs a $5000 engine is not a risk I'm going to take.
This guy says there is absolutely no instance that this will or could happen. A legal document from 1975 will protect you.
