Default 1969 impala drum brakes

My son has purchased a 1969 Impala (his first car) which we are picking up this weekend. A concern that I have is the braking system (front drums). I need help with two questions: What is the most cost effective way to convert to front discs (power)? and Would the power master cylinder and/or the spindles and discs from a 1979 trans am (parts car) work on the Impala? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Master Power Brakes and Polygraphite Performance have numerous disc brake kits (manual or power; front wheel only or four wheel; all of them bolt on, etcetera) for any vintage American car or truck. Their toll free phone number is 1-888-249-9423. Or, you can email them at http://www.mpbrakes.com. Polygraphite Performance's toll free phone number is 1-877-224-1701. Or, you can email them at http://www.p-s-t.com. I think that this solution is far superior to transferring the disc brakes, spindles and power master cylinders from a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am (or, from any other later or earlier model year GM car, for that matter).

Congrats! I love the 69s. I am currently restoring a 69' Caprice- which as you know is just a "fancy" Impala. Luckily, mine has the front power disc brakes option. I can understand why you would want power disc brakes, as they are so much better. My dads 69' Camaro has manual brakes, but does have the disc option, so they are not as bad as manual drums. As Timbilt said, there are kits out there and I think it is fairly simple.

Enjoy!
