i have a question i have a 04 impala with the 3.8 do i have a 4t60e tranny or a 9c1 also cars usually loose 40 to 50hp from crank to wheels so we're looking around 200 210

all the impalas have the same 4T65E transmissions. except the 9c1 and the ss models have the HD(heavy duty) version. the only differences between the HD and regular trannys is the output shaft and the differential.
the base models with the 3.4 have 2.89 gears, the LS models with the 3.8 have 3.05 gears and the 9c1(with the same 3.8 as the LS) and ss models(supercharged 3.8) have 3.29 gears because the differential is different.
the 2000-2005 LS and 9c1 share the same 3.8. its only rated @200hp. the SS with the supercharger is rated @240hp.
the base models with the 3.4 are rated @180hp.
