I have a 2007 Police Package Impala which was given to me by the taxpayers. However, I was only given one keyless remote and no remote start....

1) Can the remote start function be added on to the existing keyless entry system using an OEM part? There is a "re-learn remote key" option in the menu on the dash, which is what makes me wonder. know I'd need diff remotes.

2) Other than the dealer, do I have any options for programming additional remote controls? I can get them online for +/- $40 but I don;t want to pay a dealer to program them unless its necessary.

you just want everything for free hey.....if you get a remote with a Cstart option it 'SHOULD' be able to be activated in the car....HOWEVER the dealer will have to do that, and yes you will have to pay.....unless you can get some poor sap to foot that bill to..

you can get themonline, but like everything else you take a chance....enough said on that one.

The relearn option will work for your locks and things but the Command start will need to be activated using a tech2 programmer....

 

not 100% here, but doesn't it need to have the AP8 option code to be able to just add remotes & program? I though that car that do not have the option don't have the hood switch or the proper RKE module ??
