I have a 2000 Impala police package needing an engine replaced. I have a 2008 Impala police package that has been wrecked, but has a good engine and tranny. The 2000 Impala has no engine and came with no engine. The 2008 Impala has a 3900 v6 engine. Will the 3900 v-6 engine work in the 2000 Impala?

It should just consist of changing the engine and tranny, right? Or do I need the computer also?

 

think that you are right, just engine and tranny

 

even if the engine and trans fit the 2008 computer controls are CAN based while the 2000 is class 2. I can't see it being a direct fit. Get the proper 3.8l engine.
