2000 LS (Transmission code)?

2000 LS (Transmission code)?
I registered to ask a transmission question for my fathers Impala.
We need to know what the transmission code is.
It needs to be replaced.
Upon searching I found the code : 4T65-E
But the mechanic tells him that he needs a LNB or LNN number of some sort.
I am guessing that this has to do with the gear ratio's.
Could you guide me toward my answer?
Thanks in Advance.

tHOSE ARE ALL THE TRANNY OPTIONS FOR THE (damn caps) 00' impala. tell me which one you have and I will tell you what it fits. I am sure any of them can be made to work with modifications to lines, PCM and whatever else. Ask a trans guru to travel that road.

RE: 2000 LS (Transmission code)?
Ok. Thanks so much for your response.
All I know is that it is a 2000 Impala with the 3.8L V6 motor and Automatic Transmission.
It will have one of these:
The thing is. I have no idea which one.
He both scavered over the engine bay and under the transmission looking for the code, but we could not find one.
Is it stamped somewhere on the transmission?
We just need the right code so our mechanic can pick up the right transmission to do a direct swap.
On my Honda Prelude, the transmission code is stamped right next to the block code.
Will it be similar on the impala?
He cannot find either of the codes on the Impala.

No problem at all, ask anything you want. As far as know that doesnt matter. I could be wrong but with what i know all you need is a 4t65e tranny.
Are you getting a rebuild? I would highly suggest you ask the company if they are doing a Sonnax Sure Cure Kit on your tranny. It fixes alot of the factory flaws in the 4t65e. Let me knwo what they say

I believe the SPID label is in the trunk for your car, it will have the tranny code labeled there along with all the codes for your car.
You could also post your VIN and I'll do a quick search and find out the codes for you

Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.</td> </tr></tbody></table>
