2002 Impala LS
Hi all, very new here! I have been a Chevy fan since I was old enough to know what a car was! Thats about 40 years now. Anyways.
I have a 2002 Impala LS, just hit 100,000 miles, had the tune up done. It has been running rough for a few day before that. Now, when the car is moving down the road, it just shuts off. Almost like the key was turned off then back on again! The dealer had the vehicle for four days now. They had a fuel pressure Gage attached to see if the fuel pump was bad. Every time it shuts off, they said the pressure was up where it needs to be. They are stumped big time!
Has anyone every had this same kind of problem with their Impala? Thanks for any responses!

i have not had an impala that has had that problem but other cars i have had have had that problem. if the fuel pressure is where it should be when it shuts off it could be something with the ignition. if you just had a tuneup after 100k, more than likely sparks plugs where replaced, that could be the start of it, one of the spark plugs they put it could have been bad to begin with. that or the could have left a spark plug wire loose that only occasionaly archs, or grounds through something other than the spark plug, i would start with the ignition.
how often is this problem occuring?

The problem was occurring before I even took it in to the dealer. Which is why I just figured that it was due for a tune up. The dealer is stumped. Very frustrating for them and me! They told me that now they are going to replace certain parts in a order to eliminate the problem! Since the computer is not showing any codes. I am wandering if the computer might be bad.

not a problem at all.
more than likely the computer wont be bad, if the computer is bad, it should still pull some codes, but that is not always true. there are occasional times when it will not throw a code even if it is bad, but that is in rare cases.
let me know if they come across anything else and i will be glad to help you to the best of my ability.
this is one of those "chasing ghosts" problems that is hard to figure out, but i will give you the best information and resources i can

As soon as they find the problem I will post what it was! I been searching this forum and seen several posts with somewhat of the same problem. Maybe I can help with them as soon as my vehicle is fixed! Thanks again!
