It is not really a governor per se. It isthe highspeed setting in the computer. First time I hit that I thought I blew the engine. You can get a programmer that allows youto change the limit but make sure your tires are rated for the speed you intend on traveling.

Please check NAIOA.com for your answer...

There are a few different ways to accomplish this, all dealing with the car’s PCM, but before we get to that, driving 110+ miles per hour isn’t too smart of a thing to do. You may feel confident in yourself, but do you fill confident in prediction what any other driver will or will not do?

The first way to remove the limiter is to have a programmer to do it. This includes the Hypertech and Diablo. They program a higher speed limiter by changing it with the options given.

The second way is to switch out the PCM itself. There are a few different companies that offer their own tunes on a new PCM. You buy it, swap it with yours, and if you want to get the core charge back, send the original one back to them. Keeping the old one may give you something to put in if you bring the car to the dealer, in case they reflash it. Each PCM unit may need to have a security relearn done (if the car doesn’t start), or even a CASE learn (if a code and Check Engine Light come up).

The third way is to purchase a tuner (or even have your car tuned). That uses a laptop to edit the parameters on the PCM. This actually is the most cost effective option, mainly because you can change the tune when you add more mods. Currently, there is one option, going with HPTuner. There was the PowrTuner from DHP, but it has been discontinued. If you do decide to go with a tuner, look through the forums to get more info on them.
