Default 2008 Impala LT Stuck In Park

I rotated my tires on my 2008 Impala LT today by jacking up the car with a floor jack and using a jack stand. I had the emergency brake on. After I was done with the job, I started my car and I can't get it out of park. My shifter is in the middle counsel between the two front seats. Any ideas why this occuring and how I can fix it?

Thanks,
Mike

Before I posted, I tried rocking it back and forth several times and no luck.

I found the interlock over ride so I can manually get the shifter out of the locked position. The shifter still won't move out of park if I don't use the manual over ride. At least I can drive it to the shop.

Can you get at it from underneath and maybe tap the linkage with a hammer. Not smack hit, but just hit and see if that frees it up. On older cars it use to work.

I would suggest taking the vehicle to a dealership. Your vehicle has a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty which under normal circustances should cover this kind of work. I hope you are able to get this issue fixed.
