The 2.5 Impala uses active noise canceling to make the car quieter because of the louder nature of the 4cyl than the V6. as for the 2.5 being rated a better motor then the V6, where did you read this ?

The 6 cylinder is not noisy.

Like I mentioned before - the car does not struggle with a lot of extra weight and passengers and handles mountains with ease.

The engineering is the 6 cylinder dohc is also advanced.

Smile The 2.5 engine does not struggle ever

Go drive it. Im not knocking the 6 cyl its just that the 2.5 is so quite and the power is adequate.

Not everybody wants "Adequate" Some of us like "Stellar", "Outstanding", and just plain FUN !!!

The 2.5 is actually not nearly as quiet as the 3.6L V6, that's why GM had to add Electronic Active Noise Cancellation to the audio system to keep the noise level down.

If you pull the fuse for the Audio system, and drive it, you will see the actual noise it creates.

I don't need to go drive it. I already have a 2014 2ltz.
I just came with a 2.4L DOHC j-body (2002), which was pretty adequate for a small car.
