Just read the 2014 has an acoustic windshield. does this affect a radar detector at all?

 

What radar aims at windshields?

It's laminated some how.

 

some old fords have instant defrost windows and the metal in them means a radar detector cannot see thru the windshield to get the signal and warn you of a cop shooting the car. so until i know what his acoustical window has it in, i cant say if it will block the signal or not

 

Ahh... I see now. You might need to go with the grille type detector.

I wonder what band the auto cruise runs..

 

radar detector should still work.
I think on these models, they are using laminate glass in the side windows also...in place of tempered glass.
These are indeed the quietest car I have ever driven.

 

My Passport 9500 works fine.

 

after driving a week i can confirm radar detection is ok
