Default Radar Detector Instalation

Anybody know which (if any) of the fuses in the drivers side fuse panel is switched to the key. I had a shop tell me that all the fuses are hot all the time. If someone knows....point me in the right direction...I've got my detector installed ..wired to the fuse box...and can't get the power to a switched source. Thanks

I had the same problem. There are none. I ended up tapping into the rear-view mirror for switched power.

Do a search on the forum for the thread with the specifics. Just search on Radar Detector and you'll see it.

Why don't you just probe around with a test lamp or multimeter until you find a source with 12V with the key on and dead with the key off?

Been there, done that. Not a single one is keyed to the ignition.

Do you have an overhead console? Drop that and you will certainly find a keyed circuit in that. Then you can stick the detector to the very top of the windshield and have a very short power lead coming to it from out of the console. That's what I do. The detector is out of the way at the top of the windshield, and it's behind the tinted part of the glass, so it's not visible from outside.

You do have to be careful which leads you use. If you tap intoa circuit that controls one of the speeds for your rear air, it will make the blower operate incorrectly, so test everything before you put the console back up.

There was a thread that showed one that you can connect to the rear view mirror. There are wires on the back of the mirror that you just tap in to the housing. I can't remember, but if I find out I will let you know. try this website. www.invisicord.com
