you must verify the charge level before you do anything else. trying to diagnose an a.c system with a low charge will lead to misdiagnosis.

Yeah, pretty much. I guess the patent for R-134A must be running out! I hope it's compatable with R-134A.

I once did a whole rework on an 91 C-1500, swapping R-134 A, instead of R-12. Worked just fine, only 42 degrees F outlet,
instead of 39-40 F.with R-12

Yeah, we are all gonna be pretty much "fooked" when this "new" refrigerant hits the market. Follow the money............

oil compatibility may be an issue.
Is anyone making a refit kit to change the service fittings back to 134? If not...you have no way convert back.

Good points! They said that R-134A was safer for the environment, but now they have to come out with a new refrigerant?

Guess I'll buy a bottle of R-134A before they jack the prices up on that too.

if there is a tag on the compressor...follow the instructions...if no tag...follow service information on oil balancing.
if the old compressor detonated on the inside...you need to change the accumulator or receiver drier as any metal from the compressor will get into it. you don't want parts of the old compressor to take out the new one.

Ok got the new compressor in. This will be the third.
1st compressor was grinding, changed it with a used compressor, replaced the condenser (new) drier (new) orifice tube (new) cycling switch (new)
then the used compressor turned out to be leaking from the housing (according to a AC specialist)

so now I have the brand new compressor and no it doesn't have tags on it, I bought it from eBay and this is what was in their detailed section.

This compressor contains 1.5oz of oil for testing purposes only. Please flush it out and replace it with new oil before installation.
- Every compressor holds a different amount and different type of oil. (Please refer here.) Please consult a certified technician to confirm the correct type and amount of oil that is needed for your specific vehicle.
- You will completely need to flush all fluids from the system and the compressor before it is installed.

So what do I need to do to flush out the oil from the new compressor? And I have pag oil in the system from before. Thanks God bless u guys.

Same amount. Everything is good on oil. But after pulling vacuum today I tried to add refrigerant and it just wouldn't go in the system. It was at a standstill. After trying to get two cans to go in the system I ditched the gauges and added the 3rd can with a small hose that comes with the large disposable cans. I don't know what's up with the gauges I don't think they're good. I don't know how much my pressure is now. I will buy one of them hoses with the built in gauge.
