ok im new to this forum my wifes grandpa who was a mechanic died last year and didnt get to finish or tell me what was wrong with there car its an old impala and im lookin for some info. apparently the car starts every now and then and when it does it dies shortly after. it may get 30 mins or it may get 30 seconds they changed the battery about 5 times and did a few other things but like i said he died and never told me. so if there is anything you coulf think of please let me know. this is a nice car and i want it running before she junks it
What year is it? First do a thorough job of cleaning the Batt terminals and the engine ground. Get a terminal cleaning kit. Make sure the engine ground is bright metal after cleaning. Test and charge the battery even if it is new. Go from there. Sounds like a fuel problem. Either it is starving for fuel or is choking on it. Does it have a carbuetor?
