The eagle one never dull wadding made very quick work of the black exhaust stains on the chrome.
The meguiars wasn't strong enough. I may top off on with the meguiars though, to see if there is any added protection.

Isopropyl Alcohol on exhaust stains

Seems I might be a little late to the thread but better late than never so I have heard.

I just bought my 2014 Impala LTZ 2LZ two weeks ago and the car looked great after the dealership detailed the car except the exhaust trim rings were smudged with black residue. I tried a chrome cleaner with very little success so I decided to try something we have used cleaning aircraft parts. I wiped them with Isopropyl Alcohol on a fine sponge and was surprised how easily the residue wiped away. Hope this tip helps someone!
