Default Cop Car VS No Cop Version

What would be the differance be between a 2011 Impala Police model Vs the no cop model. I am sure it has to do with the engine being built for more get up and go on the cop cars but is it something like the cam maybe just ECM programming? I just got a 2011 that was a cop car so I would like to know.

Believe it or not, there is no real difference in the drivetrain on the police Impala. The differences are in the output of the alternator to supply power for lights/computers/radios and stiffer suspension components. I know that in the Ford Taurus police package an additional cross member is fitted under the rear seat for structural integrity in case of a high speed rear end collision.

Police cars will also have heavy duty suspension, battery, radiator, etc.
