if the code is for a large evap leak, I would check the canister vent valve.

Check & see what your voltage is at the 02 sensors as well. My 02 B1S1 was bouncing from 0.4v - 0.7v

p0449 is a dtc that sets when there is a fault in the evap vent solenoid circuit.

the instrument panel fuse box supplies current to the vent solenoid. with the key in run check for battery voltage on the red/white wire at the connector to the solenoid. the white wire goes the ecm and the ecm supplies grd to close the valve. the valve normal position is open.

if you supply the grd to the solenoid it should close the valve and you should here a click. disconnecting the grd should release the valve and you should here a click as it opens. if its not clicking, the valve is probably bad.

I have a 2006 Impala, 3.9 v-6. My check engine light came on and coded p0449. How can I find out exactly what caused that? It runs fine, but I want to know what is wrong so I don't get stranded somewhere. Helppp Thanks

performing the testing I have already posted will determine the fault.
