Default Exhaust finally

Once I get an idea of what would be better i'm going to place my order hopefully soon.

I'm doing exhuast hopefully next week, and I cant decide on what mufflers I should go with. No one around here has my same impala with exhuast.

I can't decide between these Flowmaster's:

Super 40's
Standard 40 series
40 series Delta Flow

I have a 2007 SS with the 5.3 (i'm sure you all know that already anyways)

What size piping?
Just from Cat-back?
Get rid of catalytic converter and just have a test pipe done?
Should I do a bigger down pipe?

Reccommendations will be very helpful

If your motor is stock, I would just do a simple cat back system. I want a new muffler too, just still deciding on what to go with.

Depends on what you want out of the car, looks or performance.
40 series will be loud, but on a v8 it should be ok. I like magnaflow myself.
Are you buying a cat back or having a shop do it for you?
Stock piping is 2.25, id go with 2.5 mandrel bent if possible.
A bigger down pipe would be benificial. Id keep the cat for emissions testing. If you had teh cat off youd also throw a code.

Obviously i'm looking for some performance gains. A local exhaust shop will be doing it for me. I'll be going 2.5 inch piping. Also, what size downpipe? 2.5 inch? I will also be getting a hi flow cat as well.

So 40 series or Super 40 series? Grrrr I cant decide

EDIT: Not to long from now, I will also be getting a Cold Air intake....probably next paycheck.

Are you aware that if you want a real performance boost you have to chip the computer? the new exaust & intake will sound good but it wont have more power until the ECM is reprogrammed to account for the upgrades.

Just my 2 cents

2.5 sounds fine.
The HF cat will set off a CEL im sure. Might have to get that code deleted from the pcm/

The Impala's dont have "chips" We can reprogram the PCM or tune it. Thats what I have done. You can change things like timing, shift skips, octane gas, rev limiters and speed limiters.
I would get the tune last after all my mods so I can tune to that

Here is what i've got so far from you helpful folk.

I've decided to get Flowmaster 40 series.
I've decided to get 2.5" piping from cat back.
I've decided to get a 2.5" downpipe.

I did notice i have to cylinder looking things uner my car...i know one is my cat what's the other one?

I have no idea where to get my car tuned is the only downfall nor do i know how myself.

One is the cat (closest to the engine) other is a resonator ( closer to the back)
You can get the dp from hogan i think. you need a diablo or hp tuners to tune it...hard to find
