Impala While undergoing many facelifts in its history, the Impala has proved itself to both civilians and police forces as one of the most capable 4-door cars GM has ever offered. Currently moving towards its 10th generation the Impala is one of the longest lasting and popular models.

Default Front Brakes

Last week, I was finally sure we would get no additional snow, so I took the snow tires off of the Impala. When the tires were off, I looked at everything to make sure I had no trouble brewing. Sure enough, I had something going on with the front brakes. When I looked at the brake rotor for the left front wheel the outer circumference of the rotor was a common gray cast iron color for each rotor surface on each side of the center cooling holes. On the right front wheel, the out board circumference was the same as what the left side was, BUT the in-board facing rotor circumference looked like dark brown or maroon in color. Must be running hotter. I brought it to the dealer and they in turn discovered there was a slight dragging by the inside pad with the rotor. They also found that the flexible brake line leading to the caliper was pinched flat between some suspension parts. When they freed up the hose, the dragging went away. I am the original owner of this Impala and to my knowledge, no work was ever done on the front end on this car, it only has about 43000 miles on it. Just an FYI to check yours out.
