Need help on my 04 impala I know how to disable drls with the emergency brake but the lights turn back on when put into gear! I'm trying to figure out how I can basically make them 100% manually operating to where I can say pull into the yard after working g all night and turn off lights coming down path to not make dogs go nuts 🤔 ik that if I keep emergency brake down and put into gear lights stay off how can I make it to where that doesn't happen?? TIA

 

wow... its been over 15 years since i did this with my 2001 impala. it should work with your 2004. i dont remember if this works for the auto headlights or drl, but im pretty sure it will work for the auto headlights. you will need a 2.2k ohm 1/2w 5% resistor. remove the drive side A frame pillar cover and the dash panel under the windshield. stick the resistor into the bottom of the light sensor and tape it off. it will trick the computer thinking it is daytime all the time. you should then be able to control the headlights with the switch.

 

So I tried using a piece of wire to see if that'd work but it actually causes the lights to stay on and and I can't use switch to turn off at all!
