Cool Impala rearview mirror

I got in my car yesterday and the rear view mirro was hanging by its "cord." I bought the appropriate adhesive today, removed the srew that secures the button to the mirror, and now I find that the button will not come off. I am the original owner, and I have never had the windshield replaced. Do they glue the button on at the factory. I don't want to break something. It seemed so simple .... until now. Thanks!

the button won't come off of the mirror?
It should slide down once the screw is backed out far enough
before you clean the interior glass when you're prepping, take a crayon and mark the outside of the glass where the button should be glued
