Impala Transmission's
i bought my 06 impala in 2006 with less than 13k on the clock for $23k for A BASE IMPALA! and have owned it ever since. i have all records for all completed maintenances and at just 79k miles the transmission has taken a **** on me. i had complained previously when the car was under warranty and the problem was ignored. i contacted gm customer service and took the car to the dealer where i bought it and was told the only help they were willing to give me was to pay for the $139 diagnostic fee and only 1 hour of labor on tearing down the transmission! THE TEARDOWN ALONE IS $860 AND THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE COST OF REPLACING PARTS OR LABOR TO DO SO. So i could be looking at about a 3-4k$ bill to fix the transmission. i am completely disheartened with the lack of customer service and help from gm especially considering a quick google search nets you THOUSANDS of complaints and problems with the new generation impala's transmissions. i will NEVER and i repeat NEVER buy another gm product so long as i live and plan on letting it be known that gm ****S on the customer.
My hyundai is a quality vehicle....any shake or creek or rattle i hear it goes to the dealer and like i said, they never have blinked an eye. I've literally had to drag a GM dealer service manager in my car and duplicate a noise after the second time of having a steering gear replaced because there techs said they couldn't replicate it. How funny i had no problem replicating it and steering gear and rack and pinion was replaced. Oh, and the shaft that connects the steering wheel to the rack. None of that would've been changed if i hadn't made a scene at the dealer and had the service manager take a ride in the car. Did the same thing with the trans and again service manager agreed he could feel the shudder but because it was the trans and there were no codes there was nothing they could do. Yea, just like the clunking noise i was hearing when i turned the wheel they were trying to tell me was normal. Customer service goes a long way and chevy has none. Why don't you sit on your GM loving tailpipe and rotate a few times.

No not at all. Maf, injectors, and trans which was a recall. Other than that 80k miles/7 year old car and runs like a dream. Unlike my POS chevy. And eh hemm.....the maf and injectors were replaced as a "precaution" since they couldn't replicate the exact problem. Of course, i guess the poor korean company can afford to do that and the government/tax payer funded american company can't. Pretty sad.
My impala on the other hand....we could be here all day listing all the sh*t they've had to replace under warranty and a few things i've fixed out of pocket. Not including the $1250 i now have to spend to rebuild the POS tranny.
you wanna see a big list?
hyundai: fuel injectors, maf, trans.
chevy: new seat rails, new driver side door handle, actuator under dash for a/c, steering gear (3 times not once, THREE), rack and pinion, steering column rack shaft, trunk actuator relay, water pump (AT 30K MILES!) front ball joints, new dash pad, new wood grain on dash, oil pressure sending unit AND I'M SURE I'M FORGETTING A THING OR TWO. Now add the trans, a relay for the a/c fan motor failed, oil pressure sending unit is leaking for a second time.....AND NOT EVEN 80K MILES YET? Yeah, that's quality right there. What a joke. Oh, and when they were "diagnosing" the clunk for the third time they had to fly in a GM engineer from detroit b/c the techs at the dealer were apparently retarded. I mean, most was covered under warranty but i was in a rental more than i was in my car for the first 4 years of ownership.
EDIT: ADD PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR TO THAT LIST.
