Maulfunctioning coolant gauge
Hey all, I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I've been trying to figure out. I've got a 2000 Impala with the 3.4L, but only the base trim level - no LS or anything else. The car has 236K miles on it. A couple months ago, I was on the highway and blew the radiator; it was the plastic on the side of the radiator that cracked. Now to the issue.
I replaced the radiator, with help from a friend; this however led to a couple other issues. I knew the radiator was going to need to be replaced, as the car had sat for quite a while before I bought it. I wound up also replacing the main fans, as well as the coolant temp sensor. Through all this though, I'm still getting a CEL coming on, with several codes, one of which is a fault in Cooling Control Circuit #2 (or something like that). I also have no idea how hot the engine is running, because the temp gauge is not working at all. I can feel the temperature change when I move the dial, but I'm afraid to turn on the AC without being able to see what the temp is doing.
To date, I've replaced the radiator, radiator fans, and coolant temp sensor; the relays test good, and the fuses are good. I don't know why this is going on. I'll get the actual codes later tonight, but in the meantime does anyone know why the gauge wouldn't be working? TIA.
