Melted Side View Mirror
Has anyone experienced a melted side view mirror on a 2014 Impala 2LT or other Chevy vehicles? Mine melted in the first two weeks of ownership and the initial word from GM is that it is not covered, because there is nothing that can cause this in the mirror assembly or wiring. Interestingly, we have a Hyundai with a similar problem, although much less damage to the mirror. I will appreciate any similar experiences being raised.

You mean heated side view mirrors couldn't possible cause this? WTF.

for sure get it inspected by the dealer to make sure its not a defect but I suspect it could be where you are parking... Do you park near or around glass buildings? if so its a known issue that the reflected suns heat can double or triple in temperature and many folks of various other auto manufactures have suffered this... it has been known to ruin a vehicle...

Great point about mirrored buildings, particularly in Texas. I bought the car in November 2014 and park in front of my garage. It seems that there is no real opportunity for that phenomenon. I will get the mirror inspected to see what the cause might be. Thanks for the tip!
