we think the fuel pump went on it, we tried putting a fuel filter on it, but now it won't start at all, at first it was fine, then it sputtered and died, we got it started, but it died again, it is acting like it is not getting fuel, and now it sound like it is trying to backfire, with the new filter on it, and it won't start at all.. we do have air coming out of the muffler so we don't think it is the cad. converter.... can you help or have sugestion???

 

i would check spark plugs and fuel injector

 

it is your fuel pump. Can you wait a while and it start up, but then die again? If that is the problem, let me know, i know an easy way to get to the fuel pump without dropping the tank

 

yes thank you for your help, it was starting then die, then I would wait just like you said, and it would then start and die again...but now after we put the new fuel filter in I can't get it to start at all, and it just sounds like it is trying to back fire or burp... I don't know, but any help would be wonderful...thanks again.

 

try the fuel pressure regulator

 

Is the security light flashing? If so its going to be the ignition lock cylinder.
