ImpalaWhile undergoing many facelifts in its history, the Impala has proved itself to both civilians and police forces as one of the most capable 4-door cars GM has ever offered. Currently moving towards its 10th generation the Impala is one of the longest lasting and popular models.
I have a 2013 impala that went down a guard rail on the left side. I replaced the left front strut and lower control arm. The top of the left front tire leans in about 3-5 inches when the wheels are straight. The only other thing I can think of that may be causing this is a bent hub or spindle.I purchased a used hub and spindle from the junk yard and was going to change them out but can not get the axle nut loose. I broke 2 half inch breaker bars and bent a 3rd one at 90 degrees trying to break the nut loose. I borrowed a friends impact and still it will not break loose. Is there some secret to removing this nut? I looked and as far as I can tell it is not staked.
Had some time to mess with the car today. With a new breaker bar and a 6 foot piece of pipe I was finally able to break the axle nut loose. I replaced the knuckle and the wheel is straight up and down now. Even the steering wheel is straight and under the hood the strut is centered in the opening instead of off to the side like it was with the knuckle bent. Hard to believe that inch thick piece of iron could get bent, but it did. Really relieved this problem is repaired. Can register the car and start driving it now. Here is a picture of the car when I bought it and a picture I took monday.
