Does anyone know how I can change my 2002 impala starter? I don't have a manual and I wanted to know if it would be worth it to change it my self or at least were its located, I have an idea but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a pretty easy job, it's located at the front side of the engine (rad side). Disconnect the negative battery cable, take the lower air dam off, Take the big cable off the B terminal on the starter solenoid(13mm nut) and take the small wire off the S terminal (8mm nut) You'll see three 10mm bolts that hold the2 pieceplastictorque converter guard onto the transmission, take that out to make taking the starter out easier. Then unbolt the starter from the engine block (I believe the starter bolts are also 13mm. The one closest to the rad will be shorter than the other one, don't mix them up. Bolt up the new starter to the block, bolt the torque converter guards back in place, put your cables on and tighten the nuts. Reinstall the lower air dam (just a few 10mm bolts), Reconnect the battery cable and you're done. The starter you buy will probably have a core charge on it so make sure to take the old one back to the store and get your money back for the core.

I installed the new starter in my car without any problems and started it up for about one minute. After that there was a loud crack sound so i turned off the car and smelled smoke fumes coming from the starter "area" could this be an electrical issue? The new starter dosn't even start back up now.
